An Exciting and Fun-Filled First Year with adidas

It has already been a year since Runtastic CEO & Co-Founder Florian Gschwandtner proudly announced the partnership between Runtastic and adidas. Right from the go, this collaboration opened up many new and exciting possibilities for our CEO and his Runtastics. We’d now like to look back on our first year together with adidas.
Eric Liedtke at Runtastic HQ
We Runtastics were quite surprised when Eric Liedtke (responsible for Global Brands at adidas) suddenly stood before us at one of our team meetings at Runtastic headquarters in Pasching. He inspired us with his motivating style, welcomed us into the adidas family and shared the company’s vision with us. What does Eric really care about? Sustainability. And you can see this in his work for adidas.
Festive atmosphere at the Boston Marathon
The Boston Marathon took place on April 18, and two Runtastics were there. On the day before the race, they both got a chance to visit the adidas Runbase. Plus, they caught a baseball game together with other adidas employees. On the day of the marathon, they joined in the festive atmosphere and cheered the runners on until they lost their voices. Their goal: To go back to Boston next year and compete in the marathon themselves.
Interesting talks and infectious beats: GBCSS 17
In April, the entire Runtastic team had the incredible opportunity to attend the Global Brand Conference at adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach. Over the course of two days, we listened to exciting presentations, gave our best at the Silent LIVE Workout Party led by our Fitness Coach Lunden Souza and danced to the beats of Stormzy. Plus, we got the chance to meet other members of the adidas family. Certainly one of our personal highlights of the year !
GamePlan A – Straight from the experts
On adidas’ new digital platform GamePlan A (business lifestyle magazin), experts share their wealth of knowledge with their readers. Just like on the Runtastic Blog. Come to think of it, it’s no wonder that we have decided to cooperate on a blog project. At regular intervals, the experts at adidas will write blog posts for the Runtastic Blog, and in turn Lunden Souza and the Content team will offer healthy lifestyle tips on GamePlan A.
Unique kick-off event in Tokyo
In June, Tomoe, our Marketing Manager for Japan, and our Fitness Coach Lunden traveled to Tokyo. The occasion was a unique kick-off event organized by Runtastic, adidas Japan and NTT docomo, Japan’s largest telecommunications company. The goal was to promote a healthy lifestyle and to show people that fitness can be fun. We presented our latest bodyweight training app Runtastic Results to the Japanese press. In addition, Lunden got selected journalists, bloggers, athletes and other fitness trainers to work up a sweat during a LIVE Workout Party. An event that none of the participants are likely to forgot anytime soon.
Florian Gschwandtner at NOAH 2016
Also in June, Runtastic CEO Florian Gschwandtner got the chance to sit on stage next to the current CEO of adidas Herbert Hainer at Axel Springer’s NOAH Conference. Together they discussed new opportunities and challenges in the start-up world. Sound interesting? Then check out the video.

The anniversary must be celebrated accordingly
Celebrating the successes is just as important as all the hard work. Our one year anniversary with adidas was definitely a good excuse for a party. In July, the entire Runtastic team got together at the Sandburg, a beach bar in Linz, to raise a glass to the previous year. We laughed, danced and racked up a whole lot of steps until the wee hours of the morning;-)

Did you know that there is a group Results workout twice a week near the Sandburg in Linz at 6:00pm every Tuesday and Thursday? Don’t live in Linz? Find a Results Group near you and get stronger together!
We at Runtastic are incredibly proud to be #teamadidas and are excited about what the next year holds in store for us.
