Dropped from 108 kg to 60 kg: Audrey Shares Her Secret of Success
My name is Audrey, I’m 25 years old and I live in France. I had always been overweight, but I never really worried about it. People were always complimenting me on my strong personality and sense of humor, which boosted my self-confidence.
That all changed my last year at school: my classmates started to tease and make fun of me on Facebook and the school playground. During a visit to the doctor, I was finally forced to step on the scale. The result took my breath away: I weighed 108 kg (238 lb).
Suddenly a light went on
It took me a while before I decided to do something about my weight. After graduating from school, I moved from the countryside to the city and began to study at university. It was during this time that a light went on in my head, and I started to live by the motto “Be the type of person you want to meet.”
My secret to success? I changed my eating habits!
On November 4, 2011, I decided to change my eating habits. I cut back on simple carbohydrates and replaced them with mainly vegetables. I also started eating according to a schedule, which helped me control my portion sizes. After about six months, I had already lost 38 kg (84 lb).
I ran towards success…
In 2015, I finally began running and tracked my sessions with the adidas Running app. I started out very slow and at the beginning, could only run 15 minutes at a stretch. My first running goal? To run an hour (with a short rest) and then to break the 10 km mark. And lo and behold, I did it! The running training helped me lose another 10 kg (22 lb).
These days, I also go to the gym and do weight training. My advice to women is be self-confident and don’t be afraid of the weights! I just ignore the surprised expressions on the men’s faces when I hit the bench press 😉
