Race Across Australia – 4000 km in 5 days and 10 hours – LIVE with runtastic

4000 km. One goal. A new world record. The Race Across Australia 2011 is one of the hugest challenges for body and spirit for the “AusTriaTeam”. Four cyclists from Austria will fight in the Australian loneliness in favor of the Austrian Muscle Research and for a new world record.

Andeas Sachs, Gerald Moser, Christian Wallisch and Andreas Fuchs combine their outstanding athletic performance with a charitable purpose. Their journey goes non-stop across Australia. In 5 days and 10 hours the route from Perth to Sydney should be completed. Three mountain ranges with 12 000 meters altitude wait for the cyclists. Stress, starvation and overwork are constant companions on the 4000 km-long route. With each kilometer the team will donate € 1 for the Austrian Muscle Research.

On Tuesday, October 25th 2011 at 6 o’clock in the morning the challenge will start in Fremantle/Australia. All adversities such as loneliness, hundreds of kilometers of treeless landscape, road trains, temperatures up to 50 degrees, night riding and the extraordinary wildlife of Australia won’t stop the “AusTriaTeam” to complete their mission. The four cyclists take turns to ride as fast as possible to the East. The planned arrival in Sydney (Opera House) is on Sunday, October 30th 2011.

With runtastic, partner of the Race Across Australia, you can follow the four athletes live and join them in the achievement of their world record any day or night time. You can find them on the runtastic fitness portal under their  Race Across Australia Profile.
