Runtastic Success Story: Losing 55 lbs in less than 1 year

One year ago, I weighed almost 210 lbs (about 95 kg) and felt dead after running 2 km. I’ve always been into sports and playing soccer, basketball, and volleyball, but I wasn’t really good at it. In March, I decided the time had come for a change and started running with a friend. It wasn’t a big change at first – in the first two months we ran between 2-2.5 miles (3-4 km) in each session. But we ran every day. One day I wanted to do more, so I ran 4 miles (7 km) for the first time. Next, I did 6 miles (10 km) – in 55 min – and I was so happy. After that I continued running 6 miles, 3-4 times a week and continued to improve my time down to 44 min.
A knee injury set me back for 2 months without any excercise. Once I healed, I started running again and I am now preparing for my first half marathon in September. I have an even bigger dream including participating in an Ironman triathlon in 2015. My only problem: I don’t have a bike yet – we’ll see, maybe I’ll get one for my birthday or Christmas. Fingers crossed! Currently, I weigh between 155-160 lbs (70-73 kg), which means that in less than a year I lost about 55 lbs (25 kg).
You can do this, too! Keep smiling, go out & do some excercise! 🙂
