How We Runtastics Keep Ourselves Fit at Work
Even though most people don’t believe it, you don’t have to be a fitness addict to join the Runtastic family. But, we are all committed to our vision and staying active. Keeping yourself fit starts with the little things. Actually, it’s easier and more fun than you might think. Not convinced? Read on and learn more about how we Runtastics keep ourselves fit at work.
#1 Eat healthy and get off your butt
We have to admit we’re spoiled: there are fresh fruits and veggies every day in our Working Café (we can’t lie, we often have some cake and sweets as well). Just grab some carrots after breakfast, some cucumbers and tomatoes as a snack before lunch, an apple along with your coffee and you’re almost done with your 5 portions of fruits and veggies a day. To find out what else is good for our bodies, we try different eating habits together, support each other and share experiences. Our CEO Florian Gschwandtner, for example, quit caffeine for 30 days and our Social Media Manager Jonathan went without sugar for a month.
Eating healthy at work is only part of the story. You have to get off your butt, too. We try not to stay at our desks the whole day, take the term “daily stand-up” literally and make use of our numerous work spaces (standing desk, treadmill desk, colorful couches, etc.). Every step counts and our Orbits help us keep track of our daily step goals.
#2 Get moving
We try to integrate fitness in our daily lives (we’ve already told you about our Running Jour-Fixes, #Runches and LunchPumps©). But that’s not all we do – first, because not everybody likes running or going to the gym and second, because sometimes you just need a change. 🙂 Every Wednesday, our Yoga teacher comes to the office and helps us find our balance. Feeling stretched and having a clear mind, it’s time for Push-up Thursday (at least for some of us). It’s not uncommon in our office that people stop their work to do some push-ups and continue on as if nothing has happened.
#3 Stronger Together
We are #strongertogether and it is definitely more fun to try out new things as a team. At our Winter Sports Day in February, for example, some of us went skiing or snowboarding, while others gave snowshoeing and cross-country skiing a try. Starting this month, we have the opportunity to shake our bodies during Zumba, which brings even more diversity into our active daily lives. To make a long story short: It doesn’t matter what kind of workout it is – it’s always more fun in a group!
#4 Show your skills
Participating in sporting events is an extra motivational boost. Especially if it’s for a good cause – like the Wings for Life World Run. Most of us prefer signing up for sporting events as a group: We train together, motivate each other and celebrate our successes afterwards.
