We’re operating in cross-functional and autonomous squads, who are responsible for their mission and creative problem-solving. One of them, the marvellous Community squad, is looking for a proactive (Senior) Backend Engineer to join them.

As a (Senior) Backend Engineer, you will be responsible and contribute to shaping engaging social features like adidas Runners, Groups, Social Connections, Social Profile, Live Tracking and the Feed as a platform for Social Interactions - connecting millions of athletes.

You’ll contribute by:

  • Architecting, building and operating code that reaches millions of athletes
  • Collaborating with other Mobile & Backend Engineers to solve challenging problems
  • Creating a culture of community, inclusion and ownership
  • Fostering engineering excellence through collaboration and high-quality standards
  • Joining product engineering initiatives from discovery to delivery
  • Being a team player, sharing knowledge and learning from others

What makes you the right match:

  • 2+ years of experience as Backend Engineer, delivering clean, testable and high-quality code and bridging the gap between REST APIs and databases, ideally in a Microservice Architecture
  • Curious and open-minded attitude, always learning and empowering your peers
  • Passion for designing and developing services for large audiences with scalability and performance in mind
  • Thorough understanding of software design, architecture principles and the pragmatism to know when to use what approach
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, valuing simple solutions and readability over elegance
  • First experience with Ruby or willingness to familiarize with it
  • Good English skills
  • Ideally, experience working in an agile environment and taking accountability over the deliverables of your team
