Linz/Pasching, September 10, 2018 – Runtastic, one of the world’s leading companies in the digital health and fitness space, with its headquarters in Pasching, Austria, announces that CEO and co-founder Florian Gschwandtner will withdraw from operational management and leave the company effective December 31, 2018.
Alfred Luger (CFO) and Christian Kaar (CTO), both also co-founders and managing directors, will take over in the interim, splitting the CEO responsibilities and the tasks in the adidas Digital Leadership Team between themselves until a successor is found. On the part of adidas, Scott Zalaznik, adidas SVP Digital, will accompany the handover process. Luger and Kaar will report into Zalaznik.
After almost ten years with the start-up and a successful three-year period with adidas, Florian Gschwandtner, who is leaving the company at his own request, will initially just take time out from January 2019.
“Founding Runtastic and believing in something that hardly anybody believed in was the best decision of our lives. We created a great company, also elevating Austria’s start-up scene to a new level. That makes me very proud. Runtastic is now grown-up and together with adidas it continues to offer lots of potential to develop further and to implement great projects. The entire team and the leadership crew know what to do. I will look on from a distance with pride,” said Florian Gschwandtner.
“We thank Florian for his pioneering spirit and his untiring dedication to Runtastic. With his product visions, his tremendous knowledge and his gift for motivating people, he has been instrumental in shaping Runtastic’s success around the globe. We wish him all the best for his upcoming time out, and beyond. Together with our outstanding team, we will continue to work on our vision of making people a little bit healthier, and we will ensure a successful handover in collaboration with Scott,” said co-founders Alfred Luger and Christian Kaar.
