Starting at Lavant you climb up to the Trundle for some great views North and South. On the other side there is a long descent on a quiet road that brings you to Charlton Forest. Here there is a longer climb to the South Downs Way. It's well rewarded with a superb descent, shortly followed by the last steep climb of the ride. Upon reaching the top you have a lovely, smooth descent through some woods and then the last few miles are on relatively quiet roads. Finally, as you come back into Lavant, if you've worked up an appetite the Royal Oak does superb lunch although it's not the cheapest. ...

Parking: If you're having lunch at the Royal Oak you can park there for free although it might be nice to let them know. If you'd prefer there is parking on Selhurst Park Road near the end of the route.
